Sandi and Bill Connors are making it easy to go kayaking in Barrington.

The Barrington couple recently opened a new business called East Bay Paddle, which offers user-friendly kayak rentals. The company removes the chore of transporting and storing kayaks, by delivering the boats to the desired location.

“This is pretty new. We’re just getting going,” Ms. Connors said.

The husband and wife moved to Barrington about a year ago, but have been kayaking for years. A short while ago they noticed that the East Bay did not offer much in the way of kayak rentals. They began researching the topic, spoke to the folks at the Worcester Kayak Rentals and about a month ago opened East Bay Paddle.

For a fee, people can rent a kayak (online or over the phone) and then arrange the time and location to start their paddle. The company offers three primary locations for kayak drops — Hundred Acre Cove, Brickyard Pond and Bullocks Cove — will also travel to other spots if requested.

“These spots are great because there’s very little boat traffic,” Ms. Connors said of the primary locations. “Especially Brickyard Pond. That’s a great spot for beginners. That’s a very easy paddle.”

Ms. Connors said she and her husband are not expert kayakers, but spend a good amount of time on the water, exploring the different areas of town. She said they truly enjoy how peaceful and calming the experience is: “It’s a great way to unwind, to leave the hassles behind.”

She said customers of East Bay Paddle come from Barrington, Warren and Bristol, and also as far away as West Warwick and even Worcester.

East Bay Paddle provides all the equipment needed for a couple of hours on the water or a full day of kayaking — the company meets customers at the water’s edge with the kayaks, paddles, life vests, extra cushions and bottled water.

“We provide everything … we want this to be fun. We want people to enjoy it,” Ms. Connors said. The company also rents ride-on-top kayaks for children.
