EA Mobile has announced that Dead Space iOS for iPhone and iPad was crowned the winner of the Best Mobile Game category at the 2011 Meffy awards in London last night.
Judged by an expert panel of independent journalists, analysts, academics and VCs the Meffys are widely recognized as the most established and coveted global awards in the mobile media industry, and a benchmark for measuring success and rewarding innovation.
“Congratulations to EA Mobile for optimizing the critically acclaimed sci-fi action-horror franchise for the iOS platform,” said MEF’s Executive Director Rimma Perelmuter.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have gotten the nod from MEF,” said Jarrad Trudgen, Design Director at IronMonkey Studios. “Dead Space was a real labor of love for IronMonkey, and we are very proud of the result. We set out to make a mobile game with console production values and set a new benchmark in quality for a core experience on iOS.”
Dead Space iOS launched in January 2011, and both the iPhone and iPad games reached the #1 Top Grossing positions worldwide. Fans and critics have agreed that Dead Space for iOS is one killer game. In the game’s App Store iPhone Game of the Week listing, the game was called, “…a wholly original and terrifying experience splattered in deep gameplay, outstanding graphics, and chilling audio.”
Dead Space iOS brings the critically acclaimed sci-fi action-horror franchise from EA to the iOS platform for the very first time. Developed in close collaboration with EA’s Visceral, studio (creators of the award winning Dead Space 2 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC), Dead Space iOS is a fully immersive mobile gaming experience featuring a brand new and exclusive storyline which fills in the sequence of events between the end of the original Dead Space and Dead Space 2.
With a fully voice-acted stereo soundtrack, sound effects that are guaranteed to make you jump out of your seat and cutting-edge visuals that are rich in effects and atmospheric lighting, Dead Space iOS reproduces the cinematic horror of the console experience and sets a new benchmark for graphical fidelity on the iOS platform.
