Coggeshall Farm to host annual Harvest Fair
All ages are invited to enjoy a weekend unplugged at Coggeshall Farm off Poppasquash Road, a living history farm that depicts Bristol’s agrarian life in 1799. The farm’s 40th annual Harvest Fair is on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14 and 15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Fun activities for all ages include hayrides, face painting, craft-making, a chance to see the farm’s animals and hand-milk a cow, a hay bale toss, sack races, Jacob’s Ladder, watermelon seed-spitting contest and other traditional games, along with a Muck Boot Fashion Show.
Purchase heirloom plants and attend a cooking demonstration with farm-raised products.
Listen to traditional, acoustic music by Trua and watch Morris dancing by the Ladies of the Rolling Pin. See the work of Rhode Island artisans and enjoy local foods.
The fair has the flavor of the 18th century, updated to give all ages a fun and relaxing way to enjoy a September weekend in a pastoral setting.
Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and children ages 3 to 12, and free for children under 3. Museum members receive discounted admission.
