wreckAuthorities believe speed may be to blame for a rollover accident on the Warren River bridge just after 10 p.m. Sunday, July 7. Police and fire crews were called to the scene at 10:05 p.m. after a woman heading north lost control of her maroon sedan, struck the north side of the bridge and was only saved from plunging off by the safety railing.

“She jumped up on that steel railing, flipped the car and knocked over one of the light poles,” Warren Fire Chief Al Galinelli said. “We haven’t had an accident like that in a long time.” Police had not filed any charges in the accident as of Monday morning; the woman was shaken but appeared uninjured; she was taken to Rhode Island Hospital as a precuation.
