crash2An apparent two car collision sent one car on its side and its driver to the hospital just before 5 p.m. on Monday.

According to a witness who was traveling behind the overturned car, two vehicles were in front of her. When one slowed to take a left hand turn, the other may have clipped the right rear corner of the car, then flipped onto its side, landing partially on the grass embankment.

Rescue crews responded immediately and stabilized the overturned car before tending to the driver who was the sole occupant. Using the jaws of life, rescue crews were able to extricate the driver who was then taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The extend of the injuries and the identity of the driver are unknown at this time.

By 5:30 p.m., the car, minus a wheel that fell off as a result of the crash, was righted and removed from the road by flatbed.
