“Diane Mederos is a talented, extremely dedicated and committed public servant and I am delighted that she is joining my team,” Congressman Cicilline said in a press release announcing the post.
Ms. Mederos worked for the town of Bristol for 28 years, including the last eight as town administrator. She was also the first woman elected to serve as president of the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns.
“It’s a new opportunity,” Ms. Mederos said of her new job. “I’ll still be working for my constituents in Bristol and across the district. I’m really excited about joining such a good team.”
Congressman Cicilline’s district office is located on Main Street in Pawtucket, near the Providence line.
“It’s different. For the first time I’ll have to commute to work,” she said.
Although Ms. Mederos isn’t sure what day-to-day activities she will be responsible for, she, and Congressman Cicilline, are confident that her experience will benefit the reorganization of the office.
The two had met over the past months at Bristol Bagel Shop where they discussed the opportunity.
“He was interested in me filling the spot,” she said of their meeting.
Mutual interest led to the job.
“Diane will bring great skill and years of experience to her new role serving residents of Rhode Island’s first congressional district. I know that she will be an incredible asset,” Congressman Cicilline said.
