Town committee’s event on Sept. 23 offers voters a chance to meet candidates
On Sunday, Sept. 23 at 4 p.m., the Bristol Republican Town Committee will host an all-you-can-eat clam chowder and clam cake dinner. Set to be held at Bristol Elks Lodge at 1 Constitution St., ticket prices are $15 per guest. Mickey G’s Clam Shack will be catering the event.
“In a year with so many big elections, from the presidential race to our local town council, we wanted to host an event to get voters informed and let them know what real change can look like both locally and nationally,” said Thomas Carroll, chairman of the Bristol Republican Town Committee. “With such a diverse group of candidates, this event is the best place for voters to get to know them one-on-one.”
Guest speakers set to attend include U.S. Senate candidate Barry Hinckley and U.S. Congressional candidate Brendan Doherty, RIGOP chairman Mark Zaccaria and former Republican gubernatorial candidate John Robitaille.
In addition, the event will also showcase the full-slate of GOP legislative and town candidates.
“I am looking forward to talking issues with local voters and hearing their concerns on how to better our great community,” said Michael Cabral, town council candidate and vice chairman of the Bristol Republican Town Committee.
Mr. Cabral, who first ran for town council in 2010, joins Jack Francis along with incumbent town council members Halsey Herreshoff and Mary Parella as candidates running on the Republican ticket in the 2012 election.
“This event will get the ball rolling in what is sure to be banner-year in politics,” he said.
In addition to the food and guest speakers, there will also be raffles for various items.
