On Friday, Aug. 30, the Bristol Fire Department will host the Rhode Island Chapter of Pink Heals to show their support for local women and their families who have been affected by breast cancer.

Pink Heals, a non-profit organization with local and national chapters, drive around the country in pink fire trucks and police cars, symbolizing hope, love and strength. As part of their east coast tour, Pink Heals vehicles will make their way south on Metacom Avenue, west on Gooding Avenue and south on Hope Street, before traveling east on Church Street to the department headquarters on Annawamscutt Drive.

The caravan will be on display from 1 to 4 p.m. at the fire department headquarters where those affected by cancer are invited to write their names among the millions of signatures collected on the vehicles.

Besides helping to raise money for local families experiencing cancer related issues, Pink Heals is an opportunity for those who feel overwhelmed and isolated to meet other families facing similar issues.

This will be the first visit to Bristol for Pink Heals.
