Don’t let the name fool you. While the focus of the Bristol Boat Show has been to highlight local boat dealerships and the latest in gear since it began 12 years ago, for the last two years the show has expanded, adding arts and artisans to the event.
Last year the show attracted 16 vendors, who offered everything from boats to handcrafted wares at Independence Park. This year the two-day event, which was held last weekend, attracted 32 vendors – a credit, said show chairman Joe Cabral, to Becky Hanos, a vendor and organizer of artisan shows.
With each successful Bristol Boat Show event, local charities receive contributions from the proceeds. Last year, $7,000 was awarded to organizations, including Bristol Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen, East Bay Food Pantry, Bristol Housing for the Elderly and Mosaico.
This year’s recipients will be announced at the annual presentation dinner to be held at Tweet Balzano’s Restaurant.
