TIVERTON — A bomb threat has caused officials to evacuate Tiverton High School.
A telephone message from officials to parents shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday morning said that at 9:40 a.m. the high school had received a bomb threat, the details of which, if any, were not disclosed.
Officials announced that police, fire department, and bomb squad authorities had been called to the scene to conduct a search.
All students, including student with cars they’d driven to school, the announcement said, had been sent home by bus to their homes. The announcement said that students with cars left at school will be allowed to return to the school grounds to retrieve their cars as soon as the bomb squad had completed its search.
The telephone message to parents said the message would be updated by telephone.
An email with a Tiverton School District logo at the top was also sent to parents, from an email address entitled firstname.lastname@example.org.
