A Barrington police officer responding to a house alarm at 2:39 a.m. on Sunday, April 6 encountered a young man stumbling near the intersection of Washington and Nayatt Roads, bleeding from his nose.

The man flagged down the officer, who stopped the cruiser and began asking the individual some questions. The man — he was 22 years old and lived in Barrington — would not answer many of the questions. He also reportedly smelled of alcohol, and had a set of car keys but did not know where his car was located.

Police called for a rescue, which transported the individual to the hospital. He was not charged.

About five hours later, a Nayatt Road resident called police after finding a red sedan parked in their back yard. Officers responded and checked out the car, which ended up belonging to the 22-year-old man founding wandering the street earlier that morning.

Police also found two empty 40-ounce bottles of malt liquor inside the vehicle.
