The BCWA held an initial hearing on the proposal at Mt. Hope High School on Dec. 20.
The rate hike could be approved at a board of directors meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 9. The potential rate hike would take effect on March 1.
BCWA Executive Director Pamela Marchand has previously stated a driving factor behind the increase is a capital plan aimed at addressing several aspect of the aging distribution system.

I have been advised by Councilman Herreshoff that the Bristol Town Council’s position is that they would like this rate increase to be delayed until there is more input from ratepayers and more information as to why the increase is needed. They feel it should not be rushed through without a more thorough informative process.
