EAST PROVIDENCE — Over 80 student singers and dancers performed during the 31st anniversary of Bay View Academy’s “Manhattan at the Bay, ” which took place May 1-4.
Directors Christine D. Kavanagh and Diane Gualtieri assembled a talented cast and crew to create the original cabaret-style production, “Making Memories.” It’s a celebration of song and dance that will take the audience on a 20th century whirlwind tour through Thailand, India, China, Italy, Ireland, England and back
The entire Bay View community is worked together to make this important fundraiser a success, including Visual Arts Chairperson, Mary Jane Andreozzi, of Seekonk, who created a life-size elephant for the production.
In addition to the five public presentations of “Making Memories,” Bay View hosted an entire weekend of events. The gala event of the weekend was “Taste of the Bay” on Saturday evening, May 3. Taste of the Bay celebrated its third anniversary this year and featured 100 different types of wine and beer, courtesy of Clift’s Liquors, East Providence, plus tasty bites to tempt the palate from area restaurants and bakeries, live entertainment and a silent auction.
It was a grown up evening out to support the girls and young women of Bay View Academy and included the 100 different wine and beers to try, plus fare from the following: Chapel Grille, Rosalina, Pizzico, Great Harvest Bread, Sage Cafe, East Providence, Magic Pizza, Dolce Gelateria, Roma, Panera Bread, Seekonk, PieZoni’s, East Providence, Cilantro Mexican Grill, 88 Lounge, Lynne’s Dolce e Pane, St. Angelo’s, East Providence, O Dinis, East Providence, Buffalo Wild Wings and Blue Kangaroo Cafe.
