Barrington Town Hall, Barrington, Rhode Island

Barrington Town Hall and Barrington Public Library will close at noon on Friday.

The library will also be closed on Saturday.

Town Manager Peter DeAngelis said he made the call to close both facilities in respect to getting everybody off the streets, a message that has been repeated over and over again by emergency management officials as a nor’easter threatens to drop more than a foot of snow around Rhode Island.

Mr. DeAngelis said the storm may be taking a bit longer to creep into the area but every forecast out there still predicts a strong hit of nasty winter weather.

Mr. DeAngelis also said the best thing local residents can do to help recover from the storm is stay off the roads and let local clean-up crews do their job.

The town has implemented a parking ban. It takes affect at noon and Friday and will stay in place until 6 p.m. on Sunday.
