A week after a 15-year-old Barrington girl downed a large amount of vodka and had to be rushed to a hospital, local police arrested a 19-year-old resident who allegedly gave her the alcohol.
On Friday, Aug. 9, police charged William A. Restituyo, of 17 Sweetbriar Road, Barrington, with underage consumption and violating the state’s social host law.
Police allege that Mr. Restituyo supplied vodka to five other teenagers during a small gathering in a wooded area behind Primrose Hill School on Friday night, Aug. 2. One of the other teens, an unidentified 15-year-old girl, reportedly drank too much vodka and became violently ill. Later that evening, the girl again got sick and then grew completely unresponsive. A 16-year-old boy who was with her became concerned and notified his mother, who called police.
“This was the third juvenile who has consumed an amount of alcohol where they had to be brought to the hospital. We need the help and cooperation of the parents of these juveniles, to find out who purchased that alcohol … and hold them accountable. It’s all about preventing tragedies,” Police Chief John LaCross said during an earlier interview.
The investigation reportedly led to Mr. Restituyo, and on Friday morning, Aug. 9 at 8:50, police arrived at the local teen’s residence and arrested him. Mr. Restituyo was reportedly uncooperative during the investigation.Add to favorites
