The first day of school in Barrington ran a few minutes longer than expected on Monday, Aug. 26, as a delay during the middle school dismissal resulted in late afternoon bus drop-offs.
An e-mail from Barrington Schools Superintendent Michael Messore explained the situation: “We had a good start with the opening of our schools today. Unfortunately, this afternoon’s busses were delayed at the middle school during dismissal time, which delayed the busses district wide. Throughout the afternoon, I was in direct contact wi
th the principals and the bus company. My first priority is to ensure the safety of our students and to prevent this from occurring again.”
Aside from the drop-off delays, the first day of instruction appeared to go quite smoothly at all of Barrington’s six public schools. And despite heavy rain early Tuesday morning, the bus pick-ups seemed to be right on schedule.
