Students and teachers from Barrington High School take a break during their community service project trip to New Dorp, Staten Island.
The local teenagers helped clean up beaches, fill supply boxes and assist homeowners in that area who are trying to rebuild their homes.
The Barrington/Warren Rotary Club provided bus transportation for the trip, and people from New Dorp High School fed the local students brunch. The Staten Island Rotary Club provided dinner.
This is not the first time the Barrington High School community helped out the folks from New Dorp. Earlier this year, Mai Donohue and Jason Appel, two teachers from the school, helped organize a fund-raiser dinner at the school. The event raised more than $10,000, which was donated to the recovery effort in New Dorp. Much of that community was devastated by Hurricane Sandy.
