Many high school theater groups from across New England submitted their work and were adjudicated by an NETC representative.
Representatives from the cast and crew attended the NETC Banquet in Natick, Mass. on Saturday, Oct. 26, to accept the award. Other distinguished honorees being recognized at the banquet were Academy Award nominee, Viola Davis; television actor, screenwriter and playwright, Charles Busch; and former professor of theater at Rhode Island College, William Hutchinson. Mr. Hutchinson also accepted the Major Award on behalf of Ms. Davis.
Presenter Charles Emmons commended Barrington High School Stagemasters’ Production of Sleepy Hollow: Ichabod and the Headless Horseman with praises such as: “This original script had spot-on casting of 31 who were able to fully commit to the fine and interesting characters”, “Excellent direction”, and “The sound and lighting truly brought this ghostly tale to life.”
The Moss Hart Memorial Award recognizes and encourages outstanding theatrical productions throughout New England of playscripts that present affirmative views of human courage and dignity, that have strong literary and artistic merit, and which in their productions, exemplify fresh, imaginative, creative treatment within the intent of the playwright.
