Barrington Middle School student Wolfgang Personeus was recently selected to the National “USA Gymnastics Magazine” for the second year in a row.

The national gymnastics magazine’s January/February 2013 issue lists Wolfgang has a “Future Star,” the 16th best 12-year-old in the country, four places higher than he placed last year as an 11-year-old.

Wolfe, as his friends call him, earned this honor by qualifying for and competing in the Future Stars National Competition at the Olympic Training Center located in Colorado Springs, Colo. in Nov. 2012.

Qualifying for this year’s National Future Stars competition was not an easy road for Wolfe — the seventh-grader injured his back earlier this year, which took him out of full practice for more than a month. The injury gave him just two weeks of full practice to prepare for the regional competition which took place two weeks before the national competition.
