Barrington Town Hall, Barrington, Rhode Island

Anyone looking to be the judge of Barrington’s new municipal court has until Monday to submit an application.

The town’s human resources department is currently advertising the opening.

“The ideal candidate will be a lawyer admitted to practice before the state supreme court, in good standing, and shall have not less than 15 years experience in the active practice of law, including trial advocacy,” reads the notice.

“This position has an annual stipend of $2,500 and the court is expected to meet once per month.”

Interested candidates should forward a résumé and letter of interest by April 1, 2013 to the Director of Human Resources at moliveira@barrington.ri.gov.

The Barrington Town Council approved the creation of a municipal court earlier this year. The court is expected to meet for the first time in July.
