“Early last Thursday morning, 6/12/14, at Primrose Hill School before children arrived, a staff member found three shotgun shells in a partially opened box in the lower level parking lot. The Barrington Police were immediately notified and responded.
“Based on a joint investigation and interviews conducted, the police believe that the box may have accidentally been dropped the night before. Investigation to this date, which is still on-going cannot link any specific threat to Primrose Hill or any other school in our district.
“If anyone has additional information, please contact the Barrington Police at 437-3935.
“Please know that we treat situations like this very seriously and share your concerns. The School Administration and Barrington Police continue to work closely together to insure that we maintain a safe and secure environment throughout our school district and community.”
In an interview on Monday morning, Chief LaCross said the shells and the box were sent to the state crime lab in an effort to extract fingerprints.
