An anonymous phone call tipped off Barrington police to a large underage drinking party at an Adelaide Avenue home on Saturday night, July 20.

Police received the call at about 10 p.m., and by the time officers arrived at the home they could see dozens of young people inside the residence. Once the teenagers realized the police were there, many fled on foot into the surrounding wooded areas.

Police were able to detain about 17 individuals and eventually charged three people with possession of a beverage by an underage person: Emily M. Vatter, 19, Julian P. Lucas, 19, and William A. Brown, 20, all of Barrington.

Police found alcohol inside the home and a plastic beer funnel. The homeowners — Ms. Vatter’s parents — were out of town when the incident occurred.
