Shenelle Teixeira won the 55 meter hurdles and Barrington girls swept the top three places in the 600 meter race as the Eagles rolled to victory in the division championships at the Providence Career and Technical Academy facility on Saturday.
Abby Livingston won the 600 meter race, followed closely by teammates Mary Kate Coogan and Megan Verner-Crist in second and third places, respectively. As a team, the Eagles (82.5 points) outscored South Kingstown (76 points), Pilgrim (61), North Kingstown (53), Coventry (44), Woonsocket (30), Toll Gate (29.5) and East Providence (8), to capture the BAYHA Division title.
Barrington scored points in a number of the events, including the 1,500, where Julianna Portelli finished third and Alice Burgess finished fourth. Portelli also placed second in the 1,000 meter race, while her teammate Bella Gagliano finished sixth in that event. In the 3,000 Barrington’s Lindsey Kloc finished sixth.
Teixeira ran well for the Eagles, winning the 55 meter hurdles and clearing 4 feet, 6 inches in the high jump, which was strong enough for a fourth place finish. Barrington’s Sara Uri tied for sixth in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 4 inches. Madison Smith finished a few spots behind Teixeira in the 55 meter hurdles, taking fourth place.
The Eagles grabbed points in all three relay events, finishing second in the 4×800 meter race and the 4×400 meter relay. Barrington ran to a fourth place finish in the 4×200 meter relay.
