Barrington officials have started to search for a new finance director.
On Monday, Oct. 7, Barrington Finance Director Dean Huff announced his resignation from the post. MariAnn Olveira, the town’s human resources director, said Mr. Huff’s last day will be Oct. 22. She would not discuss any details regarding the resignation and instead referred those inquiries to Barrington Town Manager Peter DeAngelis. The town manager did not return a phone call for this story.
Mr. Huff has worked for the town for 12 years and may be most recognizable for his contributions at annual budget hearings and financial town meetings. Mr. Huff runs a department that includes six other employees, including assistant finance director Ann Andreozzi.
Ms. Oliveira said she has already started the search for a new finance director, and will advertise the position in the Providence Journal, online and in trade publications.
She said interested candidates should have a background in municipal finance, a master’s degree and CPA designation and at least seven years of experience in the field.
Ms. Oliveira said town officials are still discussing the compensation for the position — “That will be the last piece of the puzzle,” she said.
The human resources director said interested applicants for the position should forward a résumé and cover letter to [email protected] or to the Barrington Town Hall, attention human resources director, 283 County Road, Barrington, RI 02806.
Ms. Oliveira said officials will be reviewing résumés as they are received.
