A Barrington resident called police on Wednesday, Nov. 6 after he discovered he had driven to Providence with a cat stuck inside his car’s engine. Actually, he called police after someone tried to remove the cat from the engine compartment — it was alive and well — and was bitten.

The Columbus Avenue man reportedly said he began hearing meowing coming from his car after he had reached his destination in Providence. He got out of the vehicle, examined the car and found the cat. It was fine, but a bit scared; when a passenger in the car tried to remove the cat from the engine block the feline bit him.

The cat did not belong to the motorist, and was reportedly transferred to a shelter after the incident.
