Barrington residents should expect to find a plastic bag hanging on their front door within the next of couple weeks.

Cub Scout Nayatt Pack 1, West Barrington Pack 2, Barrington Pack 2, and Boy Scout Troops 2, 4 and 6 of Barrington will participate in an annual food drive Oct. 27 through Nov. 3.

Scouts will be placing marked plastic bags on the doors of all Barrington residents this Saturday, Oct. 27 for residents to fill with non-perishable food items, which will be donated to Rhode Island food banks.

Scouts will return to collect the bags between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Nov. 3. Residents should leave the bags on their front steps.

This is the 25th annual “Scouting for Food” Drive. More than 8 million pounds of food has been collected for area food banks during that period.

The Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are active, community service organizations in which young men are led by screened and trained adult volunteer leaders in a variety of activities designed to make them better adults.
