The Friends of the Barrington Public Library hosted an annual book sale last weekend, and as usual, the event was popular and well attended.
Friends member and event coordinator Joyce Van Sluyter said there was a line of people outside Barrington Senior Center Saturday morning waiting for the sale to begin. She said one of the first customers of the day left with three full canvas bags carrying between 40 and 50 books.
That customers charge? $32. Most of the items on sale were $1 or less with a few special exceptions, such as a signed Hillary Clinton book that went for $50.
All of the books up for sale were donated and all proceeds from the drive go to library programs funded by the Friends.
“I think the community really looks forward to it,” Ms. Van Sluyter said.
“It’s a great buy, for one thing. Most books are a dollar and they’re nice books. They’re good quality.”
If you missed last weekend’s sale, worry not. The Friends operates an on-going sale inside Barrington Public Library. Stop by between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays, September through June.Add to favorites
