Barrington bitten by another afternoon break-in
According to police, a County Road resident called the station at about 4:30 to report a breaking and entering. The resident told officers he had left the home, which is located just east of the intersection with Rumstick Road, at about 11 a.m. and returned at 4:10.
He said he quickly noticed that a screen on a window at the rear of the home had been knocked out and the window was half-open. He then saw that someone had ransacked the master bedroom.
Police said that the resident reported about $60 in cash missing from the home as well as a Coach wristwatch.
Barrington Police Chief John LaCross said the break-in appears to match the description of earlier break-ins in town — local homes were targeted for a number of burglaries starting in late February and continuing through the beginning of April. Police charged two men with some of the break-ins, but have struggled to locate a third suspect whose image was captured by surveillance cameras at a local restaurant. It is believed the man in the photo was responsible for breaking into a Wood Avenue home.
Police are asking people to call the tipline (437-3933) if they have any information about the suspect in the Wood Avenue break-in or other related cases. Add to favorites
