Tonight’s meeting will mark the second time the board has met to hear testimony regarding the master plan application for the 48-unit project, which has been proposed for the parcel of land currently home to Sowams Nursery. The East Bay Community Development Corporation is the developer.
The board heard public comments during a May 13 meeting also; density, traffic concerns and tax abatements surfaced at the first hearing. Tonight’s hearing will likely include environmental issues relating to the project — the development is proposed for a piece of land that abuts the Palmer River to the east.
Members of the community group CODDER 02806 are planning to attend the hearing. The group also distributed a flyer to residents across town regarding the meeting. The flyer reads “Raise Your Voice — Come to the public town hearing on the East Bay Community Development Corporation’s Master Plan application for construction of a corporate owned $14.5 million, multi-unit rental apartment complex at the Sowams Nursery on Sowams Road.”
