Andy Warhol once said everyone will be famous for 15 minutes. A Warren man might be wishing it wasn’t his time. Last Wednesday, Warren police arrested Joseph Opielawski, 26, of 76 Arlington Ave., on a Seekonk, Mass. warrant that stems from the theft of an expensive ring from a retail store in that town. The theft occurred at Kohl’s the first week of November. A clerk at a jewelry desk told police that a man dressed in a black cap, tan jacket, jeans and sneakers asked to see a ring worth about $9,000 and bolted for the door after she handed it to him and turned her back briefly. Afterwards, store officials released video stills of the man walking out of the store in hopes of identifying the thief. Several Warren police officers who are familiar with Mr. Opielawaski happened to see the photos and recognized him as their man, and called authorities in Seekonk. Warren police had no information on whether the ring was recovered, and Seekonk police could not be reached.
