PORTSMOUTH — A 62-year-old woman was left with a fractured shoulder when a pickup truck struck her in the parking lot of Bank Newport on Dec. 23, according to a police report. A witness told police that the woman had just emerged from between two cars. Newport resident Charles J. Houser had just backed out of a spot and was slowly pulling forward when his truck knocked the woman to the ground. The Portsmouth Fire Department transported her to Newport Hospital. Mr. Houser said he did not see the woman trying to cross the lot. The bank is located at the corner of Turnpike Avenue and East Main Road.
