Nearly two dozen St. Mary Bay View Academy students recently participated in an after school program to make baby blankets for McAuley Village.

According to a press release on the matter, 23 students ranging from grades 1 through 5 took part in the optional program. McAuley Village is a two-year transitional housing program for homeless single parents, their children and Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

The project, which reinforces the Academy’s Mercy Core values of compassion and service and collaboration, was run by Lower School teacher Janine Cooney.

“The girls gave up their afternoon activities to be a part of this project. They love doing it because they really feel they are personally doing something to help someone else, and they are. It was a wonderful afternoon” said Ms. Cooney. The girls who participated included
