100 Years Ago in Warren: Minstrels are coming
Minstrels are coming
The minstrels are coming to town. You can look for them at the town hall, Thursday evening, April 10th. The black face artists and others who are to take part have been chosen from local talent, though outside helpers have been called upon to make the affair a success. A large chorus is holding weekly rehearsals and the music selected consists of the latest and most popular songs of the day.
The greatest day
Easter. The greatest, the most sublime day of all the year, in all the world. None other approaches it. Other days are limited by time and place. They are peculiar to races, to nations. Easter is for the whole earth. It is the day that gives meaning and purpose to all others; and paltry and insignificant do the others seem beside it. Other days teach some part of truth, or recall some one life, or celebrate some single event. This one embraces all.
It will e another season of base ball. this fact is assured. The Warren management has succeeded in obtaining a place in the fast City league. Such teams as the Mohawks, Cranstons, Independent A.C., East Providence and others compose this group of players. Bristol is now trying to get in. We hope it does, since such a course will save the necessity of outside games; and more, Bristol will be forced to play the games and not crawl out when half through the series. Add to favorites
