Thomas H. Levesque III, 40, of Portsmouth, died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Born on September 1, 1976 in Newport, he is the son of Thomas Levesque Jr. and Susan (Fatata) Levesque of Portsmouth.

Tom grew up in Portsmouth, enjoyed soccer throughout his youth with PYSA, and graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1994. He began his working career with landscaping, but was soon drawn to the boat industry. He worked for Hinckley, TPI, and New England Boatworks over several years. Since 2007 he has been working as a A/B Seaman for Moran Towing Corp, operating in Narragansett Bay and New York Harbor. Tom always enjoyed fixing things, travelling, and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Michelle, and two nephews, Michael and Gabriel, all of Portsmouth, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas and Anna Levesque of Portsmouth, and Samuel and Pauline Fatata of Utica, NY.

At Tom’s request, there will be a private family service.

Memorial donations may be made to the Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840 or a charity of one’s choice.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
