Regina C. Zarach, 98, passed away peacefully with family by her side at D’Youville Nursing Home in Lowell, Mass., on Friday March 30, 2018. She was born on June 17, 1919, in Dorchester, Mass., the daughter of Antony and Victoria Nowaki.

Regina married Edward Zarach in 1946 and settled in Reading, Mass. This was her home for many years as she raised her two boys, Alan and Steven. Reggie learned to sew from working with her father as an upholsterer and used this skill to build a successful business creating draperies and slipcovers for many families in the community.

Her interest in nature led her to become a long-term member of the Audubon Society, a passion which became instilled in both her children. She was an amazing cook, making and serving delicious soups, pastries and Polish foods. Reggie was a woman of many talents, including gardening, painting and more.

With her children grown and moved out of the home, Reggie made Little Compton, R.I., her full-time residence. This is the place on Earth that brought her true happiness, which she shared with family and friends for many years. Everyone was welcomed into her home for conversation, food and hospitality.

She leaves her son, Steven, daughter-in-law Colleen, daughter-in-law Ruth Zarach, grandchildren, Kelly Zarach, Michael Zarach, and Wendy (Zarach) Maressee, and great-grandchild, Alma Maressee, as well as many nieces and nephews. Reggie was predeceased by her husband Ed, her son, Alan, and her grandson, Charles.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit Regina’s family at a memorial service on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Union Cemetery in Little Compton.

We welcome all who would like to speak and share a memory of Reggie.
