Raymond J. Medeiros, 81, of Little Compton

Raymond J. Medeiros, 81, of Little Compton passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018, at home. He was born in Little Compton, son of the late Manuel S. and Marie F. (Goulart) Medeiros and had been a lifelong resident of the town.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a graduate of URI. Raymond was grateful to all who enriched his life, especially family and friends. He was known throughout the community for his many and varied good deeds and generosity to all, even without being asked.

Survivors include his two brothers: Manuel S. Medeiros, Jr. and his wife Carol of North Carolina and Matthew F. Medeiros and his wife Sarah of Barrington, R.I.; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private arrangements, under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, Mass., 02790, will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southcoast V.N.A. Hospice, 200 Mill Road, Fairhaven, Mass., 02719.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
