To the editor:
Just a short letter of appreciation to the Little Compton Tree Committee for the wonderful surprise delivered to my house.
I submitted an application for an evergreen tree; an email from Hope Taylor of the LCTC informed me that a tree would be delivered and steps I should take preparing for the arrival.
A few weeks later a perfect 6-foot white pine was delivered by our own tree warden, Josh Burchard. Cynthia Sheldon, also of the LCTC, gave me a “heads up” prior to delivery and followed up with excellent instructions on planting and care.
I chose a suitable spot away from overhead wires. White pines grow fast and tall. Steve Reuter, Little Compton landscape expert, dug the hole and planted the tree. Lots of excitement on my part anticipating the arrival of my own “Archie.”
Despite the rain, I am keeping it watered and will mulch soon. This is my second tree from the LCTC and the people who make it run smoothly. This is a gift to last through the years and will be enjoyed year-round.
