Kathleen O’Brien Neitzey, 80, of Little Compton

Kathleen O’Brien Neitzey, born Aug. 4, 1937, passed away on May 26, 2018, at the age of 80. She was the fourth child of the late Margaret and George O’Brien. 

A native of Washington, D.C., she graduated from The Catholic University of America and married Joseph Neitzey in 1960.

As a 50-year resident of Little Compton, R.I., she served on the town’s School Committee and started the Little Compton Girls’ Softball League. She was a communicant at St. Catherine’s, where she served as a CYO advisor, long-time CCD teacher and Respect Life Committee co-chair with her husband.

She is survived by her faithful husband Joseph, devoted children Julia Lewis (Scott), Philip (Lisa) and Clare Ryan (Kevin). Her beloved grandchildren, Monica Lewis, Elizabeth Blessing (Danny), and Daniel, Liam, John, Nora, Maggie and Maeve Ryan. She was the loving sister of Terry O’Brien, Patricia Brady, the late Mary Ann Leahy and Margaret Landi. 

Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, at Fern Acres Funeral Home, 72 Willow Ave, Little Compton. Mass of Christian burial at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 74 Simmons Road, Little Comptonat 11 a.m. on Friday, June 1.
