Judith Ann Dolan Wagner, age 73, passed away unexpectedly — after putting up a tenacious fight against a two-month illness — on April 13, 2018, in her cherished home that she shared with her beloved and surviving husband, Edward “Ned” Wagner, and their two doting dogs.

The eldest of four children of the late Richard Dale and Anna Pauline (Bond) Dolan of Missouri, Judy learned life lessons completing chores on the family farm, competing in track and serving as President of her Raytown, Missouri High School graduating class of 1963.

Judy grew up and worked in Kansas City, Missouri until the age of twenty-four when she embarked on her career as a buyer for several prominent retailers in San Francisco; Rome, Italy; Boston, Mass.; New York, N.Y.; and Burlington, Vt., including Saks Fifth Avenue, and as a jewelry professional certified by the Gemological Institute of America for Sidney Thomas and Ross Simmons in Rhode Island.

Judy possessed an artistic eye and passion for couture, which impelled her to roam the world in search of elegance and new experiences, becoming enchanted in the process with Italy, where she lived for several years.

Judy bloomed into a physically beautiful, thoughtful, intelligent and cultured woman – whose allure was magnified by her quiet inner glow of grace, faith and active Christian charity in both her thoughts and her instinctive acts of compassion.

She was a loving, loyal and devoted friend, a difficult opponent — fortified with an impressive streak of Missouri strong will and grit -- and a proud American.

Judy was an active member of the United Congregational Church of Little Compton, the Sakonnet Point Club, and Sandpipers of Newport.

A culinarian and a “mean cook,” Judy was a baker of delectables for which there were never any leftovers and the undisputed best apple pie baker bar none.

Judy had a lifelong enjoyment for shopping — to her husband’s dread. She also enjoyed gliding, horseback riding, cross country skiing in Vermont and entertaining with/for family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, siblings, several brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and her hallowed friends.

We happy few who knew Judy are better people because of her, and the world is a better place because Judy was in it.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at the Fern Acres Funeral Home, 72 Willow Ave., Little Compton, R.I. will be Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., immediately followed by services at noon at the United Congregational Church of Little Compton, 1 Commons, Little Compton, R.I., and burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Little Compton, R.I.
