John A. Moson, 77, Little Compton

John A. Moson, 77, of Little Compton, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at the Grand Islander Center with his family by his side. He was the husband of Joyce C. (Wordell) Moson.

Mr. Moson was born in Atlanta, Ga., son of the late Walter G. and Amelia H. (Giza) Moson, and had resided in Little Compton for over 45 years. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner/operator of John's Texaco. Mr. Moson enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Along with his wife, survivors include his two sons, John A. Moson Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Middletown, and Marc A. Moson and his wife Elizabeth of New York; four grandchildren, Ava, Sophie, Benjamin and Oliver; and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Friday, March 30, at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, at 7:30 p.m.

Calling hours will be Friday from 5-7:30 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Scholarship Little Compton, P.O. Box 928, Little Compton, RI 02837.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
