Harry Moniz, 80 years of age, of Adamsville, passed peacefully into eternal life on January 28, 2018, in Ft. Myers, Florida. He was the son of Portuguese immigrants, the late Manuel Souza Moniz and Amelia (Branco) Moniz. Harry was preceded in death by six siblings.

He was the beloved husband of Nancy Ann (Frias) Moniz; they were married for 58 years. He was father to Dana, Gary, and the late Steven Moniz. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Danny and Jason Moniz, and his daughter-in law, Karen Moniz.

He was a lifelong resident of Adamsville, and owner of the Moniz Farm, established in 1922. In his early years, he was a mechanic for John Martin of Westport. He was a member of the International Union Local 4 Boston and was employed for 25 years as an operating engineer. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for DW White Construction in Acushnet, Mass., before retiring. In retirement, he formed H. Moniz and Sons Excavation of Adamsville.

Harry enjoyed the Red Sox spring training in Florida, growing tomatoes and chatting with customers at his farm stand, dining at the Liberal Club, attending clam bakes and being with friends at Crowther’s Restaurant. This honest and considerate man will be missed by his friends and family.

Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, February 16, at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, at 6:30 p.m.

Memorial visitation will be Friday, from 5-6:30 p.m. prior to the service.
