PORTSMOUTH — We got a sneak preview of “Footloose: The Musical," as members of the cast went through a few song-and-dance routines during a dress rehearsal Tuesday night at Portsmouth High School.

The story is about what happens when a boy named Ren moves from Chicago to a small farming town and runs into some rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher.

The PHS Drama Club is hosting the show in the school auditorium for two performances Friday and Saturday, April 6 and 7, at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are at the door are $10 general admission, $5 for students and seniors.

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
