TIVERTON, RI NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS – APRIL 22, 2013 AMENDMENTS TO CODE OF ORDINANCES CHAPTER 15 – DRINKING WATER RESERVOIRS CHAPTER 78 – TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES

Notice is hereby given that Public Hearings on proposed amendment to the Town’s Code of Ordinances are scheduled for a Tiverton Town Council meeting to be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Tiverton Town Hall, 343 Highland Road, Tiverton, RI.

Code of Ordinances – CHAPTER 15 – DRINKING WATER RESERVOIRS: These amendments will add a new Chapter 15 (Sections 15-1 through 15-5) to the Code of Ordinances, regulating and protecting drinking water reservoirs within the Town, including but not limited to Stafford Pond and Nonquit Pond. ARTICLE I will regulate fishing tournaments on drinking water supply reservoirs . ARTICLE II will direct the Tiverton Conservation Commission to conduct an investigation and report to the Town Council on such recommendations as the Commission deems are reasonable and appropriate to preserve the ecological and drinking water quality of the drinking water reservoirs within the Town.

Code of Ordinances – Chapter 78 – TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES: Theses amendments will revise Sec. 78-71. – Parking prohibited—At all times on certain streets. Parking will be prohibited on part of Old Stafford Road, and certain technical corrections will be made to account for changed names and new bridge ramps.

Anyone wishing to be heard on these amendments should be present at the aforementioned date and time. The proposed revisions may be altered or further amended prior to the close of the public hearing without further advertising as a result of further study or because of views expressed at the public hearing. Any alteration or amendment must be presented for comment at the public hearing. Amendments take effect upon passage.

A copy of the amendments are available for public examination in the office of the Town Clerk between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and at the Essex Library during normal library business hours. The Town Hall and Essex Library are handicapped accessible. Individuals requesting interpreter services for the hearing impaired must contact the Office of the Town Clerk at 625-6703 at least three business days prior to the hearing date.
