PROPOSED ORDINANCE
No. 2013-06

AMENDMENT OF THE
ORDINANCES
OF THE TOWN OF BRISTOL
SECTIONS 18-2 & 18-7
REGARDING
Parks and Recreation;
Snowmobiles

IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED by the Town Council of Bristol, Rhode Island, that Chapter 18 of the Bristol Town Code be amended as follows:

Chapter 18
PARKS AND RECREATION

ARTICLE I. – IN GENERAL

Sec. 18-2. – Definitions.

Vehicle means any conveyance (except a baby carriage) including motor vehicles, trailers of all types, campers, tricycles, bicycles (motorized or not), sleds, sleighs, snowmobiles, pushcarts or vehicles propelled by other than muscular power. Vehicle does not include motor vehicles owned and operated by the Town or its agents or employees for purposes of maintenance and enforcement of this Chapter.

Sec. 18-7. – Prohibited acts constituting violations.

It shall be unlawful for any person in a public park or recreation area to:

(27) Ride or drive automobiles or
vehicles of any kind over or upon
any turfed portion of any park, or
land owned or controlled by the
Town of Bristol, and no person
shall ride or drive a snowmobile
over or upon any such areas.

(278) Closing hours. No person shall be in
any town park during the hours that
a park is closed. All town parks shall
be closed from sunset to 6:00 a.m.,
unless the director has agreed that
a park can remain open at other
times. This subsection includes the
following parks:

This ordinance shall take place upon its passage.

The Town Council will be in session in the Town Hall, Council Chambers on March 27, 2013. If remonstrance in the meantime, a petition bearing the valid signatures of at least twenty (20) qualified voters must be filed with the Town Clerk requesting a Public Hearing, such hearing must be held before final action may be taken on said ordinance.
