Twin brothers Alex and Nico were the first people to know about this tournament. Their mother is the leader of their DI team and they invited their friends to be part of the group. They all needed to use creativity, teamwork, and problem solving to choose a challenge and to show a workable solution.
The challenge they chose was called Hold It! For this challenge they performed an original skit and they built a small wooden structure out of balsa wood which only weighed 65 grams but held over 215 pounds and captured 20 golf balls. They won first place in the Rhode Island State Tournament in their challenge and were invited to go to the Global Tournament. Unfortunately they didn’t go to Global’s due to the expense and travel commitment.
Together, they worked on their group challenge for approximately two months. We asked about size requirements and Connor and Sam said “they were really tough.” They also needed to do timed challenges on the day of the tournament which made them a little nervous, but mostly excited.
Overall the team had a great experience!
