A man stopped on Main Street at about 1:21 a.m. was just out for a walk, he told police.
Someone complained — really — that there was a seagull on Market Street.
A caller told police he saw a construction worker pouring what looked to be paint down a storm drain on Water Street. The worker told police it was only water.
A caller reported a dog left in a car parked on Metacom Avenue, and gave police the plate number. The car was gone by the time police arrived, but they caught up with the owner and told him of the complaint.
Police went out to a neighborhood dispute on Union Street.
Tuesday, July 15
Michael F. DaPonte, 22, of Newport, was picked up on a Newport warrant for felony assault with a dangerous weapon, and disorderly conduct.
A caller from Market Street told police that someone assaulted his friend earlier in the day.
Items were reported stolen from a Market Street business.
A Metacom Avenue woman told police that someone threw rocks in her swimming pool. Police spoke to a neighborhood juvenile about the complaint.
An Overhill Road woman reported being terrorized by a neighbor.
A Water Street woman asked that police remove an unwanted man from her home.
Kids were reported playing with construction equipment on Franklin Street.
Wednesday, July 16
A Metacom Avenue woman told police that someone broke into her home.
A caller told police that a man and woman parked a car next to the Warren Town Beach, got out and started arguing about drugs. Police were unable to find the pair.
A Laurel Lane man told police that a neighbor yelled at his son.
Thursday, July 17
A barking dog call drew police to Fern Drive. Police heard nothing amiss.
Someone reported a package stolen off the steps of a Water Street home.
Police got a call about a man yelling at a woman on Joyce Street.
Michael P. Harvey, 44, of 15 Cutler St., Apt. 11, was charged at 6:16 p.m. with domestic disorderly conduct after police were called to his home for a disturbance. Just over five hours later, police caught up with him again after they received a report of a man and woman arguing on Asselin Street. This time, Mr. Harvey was charged with domestic disorderly conduct and violating a no contact order.
A barking dog call came in from Main Street.
Friday, July 18
A ‘suspicious’ person spotted walking on Main Street just before 3 a.m. was just walking to his friend Calvin’s, he said.
Police got a call that a juvenile was riding a motorized scooter on Harris Avenue.
A woman told police that an older man with white hair in a ponytail, wearing a tank top, approached her and asked if she needed a ride. She declined.
Police got a call about a large party on Davis Street.
Saturday, July 19
A caller reported damage to a statue at Lyndon and Broad streets.
A phone was reported stolen from a car parked in a Metacom parking lot.
A Main Street man told police that someone dumped his trash all over his yard. Police said it was part of a neighbor dispute.
Police got a call about a drunk person on a RIPTA bus.
Police logged a complaint about open burning on Greenlawn Street. All they found were kids people playing with sparklers; no fire.
A barking dog call drew police to Main Street.
A house party complaint came in from Davis Street.
Sunday, July 20
Justin C. Benjamin, 26, of 44 Union St., was picked up on a Rhode Island Superior Court warrant. There was no explanation of the charge, and a search of the Rhode Island Criminal Information Database turned up no open charges against him.
Police got a call that a man was walking up and down Mill Street yelling out the name “Chris.”
Wayne J. Henrique, 33, of 379 Child St., Apt. 1,was picked up on a warrant for domestic simple assault/battery, domestic disorderly conduct and domestic vandalism/malicious injury to property.
Police got a call that a mother and son were arguing on State Street.
