Hazel V. MacConnell, 96, of East Providence passed away peacefully in February at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center.

Hazel was the daughter of the late Charles E. Walton and Alice (Tierney) Walton. She was married to the late Arthur P. MacConnell for 56 years.

She is survived by her children Russell Barry, Arthur, Craig, Kevin, and Carol MacConnell, and her brother Edward Walton. She had four grandchildren, Kevin Mizer, Allison Hansen, Rachael and Elizabeth MacConnell, and four great grandchildren, Cadence and Jordan Mizer and Arleigh and Roland Hansen.

Hazel was raised in East Providence, moved to Cranston, raised her family, and returned to Riverside. Her family was her life and she was always there to help everyone. Hazel was most appreciative of all the people in the hospitals and nursing homes that took care of her. Always an animal lover, her little dog Baxter was always in for visits which brought her much enjoyment.

A celebration of her life will be held later this year.
