To the editor:
I read Jack Baillargeron’s letter last week (“Water authority ignores its customers”) with interest. Jack, you are not alone.
I bought my house in 1986. You were right, Jack, back then there were far fewer houses around. I remember water pressure being low, but it didn’t seem to be as bad as it has been.
In April of 1996 I contacted the Bristol County Water Authority, thinking something was wrong with our incoming water line. Water pressure seemed to be getting worse. On April 4, 1996, they checked the line, which was OK, and a technician took water pressure readings at the meter, which is ground level. Get this: 16 PSI static pressure, 3 PSI residual pressure, 6.4 GPM flow rate.
The water authority offered to me, on beautiful colored stationary, a generous $200 grant if I install a pressure boost system. I passed, too expensive when all is said and done. We decided to just accept our fate.
In 2005, I called the authority again, hoping maybe something “was in the works” to increase water pressure in the area. Same response: A technician came over to measure pressure (he remarked that he couldn’t believe how low the pressure readings were!), and another beautifully colored letterhead with the SAME $200 offer. No adjustment for inflation from the BCWA here, I guess.
Some examples of the inconveniences we have lived with: It takes forever to fill the bathtub or the pool. I get 1 GPM out of the kitchen cold water faucet, a little over 1/2 GPM from the hot water. Forget about ever using a lawn sprinkler.
Isn’t that great?
If there is an attorney out there who feels we have some legal recourse against the water authority, I’m on board. Sign me and Jack up today.
Life sure is sweet when you’re a monopoly; you can tell your customers to take it or leave it. Makes you feel like Oliver Twist. “Please Sir, may I have more pressure?”

The water authority which is owned by us taxpayers though you would never know it. Is the most dispicable kind of abuse by appointed beaurocrats, I dont know what worse the company or the Town councils and Boards that are suppose to be looking out for us. None of them seem to care. As for the bristol water board I would remove them all today if I could.
They are all in sync with screwing us the customers and owners. They dont care at all. One wonders why they even go to meetings they do nothing except try to intimidate those who speak and then lie and do nothing. After 22 years of being aware of the problem it is obvious they have no intelligence, backbones, and are nothing more than a bunch of cowards in my opinion period.

Will DELISE be removed will the 3 towns finally see the light and dump this authority leader ship and Bristol water board in the land fill WAKEUP. Do it now.
Jack
Wonder is this could be a secret Union Leadership scam to keep the taxpayers in check. HMMMM

Look into Delise's contract...It would be eaiser moving the Mt. Hope Bridge than getting rid of this bum.
I have been told that all three council are needed and they can vote to fire him. No matter what the contract. I dont care what it cost the guy needs to go sooner the better.

After chacking into Moving the Mount Hope bridge well that would be a lot easyer than firing DeLise. It doesn't mean it cant be done anything that can be thought of can be done eventually. Nothing is impossible it just hasn't been figured out yet. ;-}

I have the same problem with my water pressure. Sometimes it effects the way my tolit flushes. But yet they seam to still always raise the amount due for our water Bills. Citizens need to get together and fit this. I lived in Providence for 7 years and the water is alot better and never a problem with the water pressure....I don't get that

The problem in the north east end of Bristol and South east end of warren has been going on an on for years with nobody caring at all at the town councils or the water authority. They need to fire the management of the authority and audit the books and find out why this has not been resolved period.
