Many made hunger run/walk a success

To the editor:

I would like to thank all of the members of our community who made the first running of the Get Off Your Can 5K Run/Walk in Colt State Park on Saturday, June 20, a huge success. A fund-raiser for the East Bay Food Pantry, the event hosted over 200 participants running and walking to end hunger.

While the overwhelming support of the runners and walkers was critical, the event would not have been possible without our volunteers and sponsors. The volunteers logged many, many hours of hard work to make our first event for the East Bay Food Pantry one to be proud of. Our sponsors provided the financial and moral support needed to get the event off the ground.

Thank you all for your generosity and support.
