Caitlin Emery of The Preservation Society of Newport County will lead this tour to explore the historic significance and the stories of preservation and loss on one of America’s most legendary streets, Bellevue Avenue. Advance registration required.
Join the Ten Mile River Watershed Council for this third annual hike on a little-known trail through Seekonk Meadows and the Charles Mararian Farm. The trail offers good views of Gameno and Central Ponds, and some cellar holes being taken over by forest. The walk is just under two miles. Bring water; bug spray will be provided.
Harold Stirling Vanderbilt, son of William and Alva Vanderbilt of Marble House, is best known for successfully defending the America’s Cup three times in the 1930s. In this illustrated lecture, Trudy Coxe, CEO and executive director of The Preservation Society of Newport County, will share stories and images from his celebrated sailing career and explore Newport’s role in the history of the America’s Cup. Advance registration is required.
